M. lacrosse aims high in NESCAC

Just two days before its opener against NESCAC opponent Colby College, the men’s lacrosse team is looking forward to a season that will put to rest tough memories while capitalizing on the more hopeful memories from last season. Addressing the team’s 2016 potential, co-captain attackman Sam Sweet ’16 says that “more than any other year, we have the pieces in the puzzle to really do something and go far.” Defenseman and fellow co-captain Sellers Garrett ’16 echoed Sweet’s optimism. “This year we’re stressing that we have the capability and that we should be trying to win the NESCAC title, whereas in the past we were just trying to make it to the playoffs.”  More ...

Rowing teams begin training for eight-race spring season

The men’s and women’s rowing teams appear to be well-positioned for success this season, though they’ve taken different routes to get to where they are now, about a month away from their first races of the season. While the men’s side returns all of the rowers from last season’s top eight boat, the women’s team graduated a lot of key rowers from the crew that placed fourth in the nation last spring during nationals, and is banking on its young rowers stepping up. Women’s hockey ties Conn College in inaugural FebFest Classic

The energy was palpable in Sage Rink as the women’s hockey squad wrapped up the regular season against the Connecticut College Camels in the first FebFest Classic on Saturday, Feb. 21. Co-sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Social Traditions Committee, the annual tradition will be a women’s hockey game occurring during the week of FebFest. M. Basketball drops final two games

The Hamilton men’s basketball team wrapped up its season this past Saturday with a loss to 19th-ranked Amherst. The defeat gave the Continentals a 10-13 overall record for the season and a 2-8 record within the NESCAC, which left them tied for last place in the conference with Bates. Previously, Hamilton had taken league-leading Trinity to overtime, before falling to the Bantams by a final score of 96-86.   More ...

Sam Graber ’16 caps historic career as W. Basketball misses playoffs

As the final buzzer sounded on Saturday, three senior Continentals stepped off of the court for the last time donning buff and blue. Corinne Hom ’16, Sam Graber ’16 and Carly Gruenberg ’16 all ended their Hamilton careers with an admirable fight against nationally ranked Amherst College.  The Lord Jeffs, who sit second in the NESCAC at 9-1 with an overall record of 23-1, are ranked sixth in the Division III Top 25 coaches poll and seventh in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. M. hockey splits last homestand

Despite the team’s impressive 9-2 conquest of Connecticut College on Saturday, Hamilton College men’s hockey dropped to fourth in NESCAC standings after dropping a 4-3 decision against Tufts. Hamilton is now 8-6-2 in the NESCAC with an overall record of 13-7-2; whereas the Continentals’ previous third-place ranking clinched the team a home playoff match, the team now joins ranks with other NESCAC teams fighting for the home advantage.   More ...

The Hamilton men’s basketball team enters the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to earn a NESCAC playoff spot after failing to reach the playoffs last season. M. hockey clinging to home-ice advantage despite weekend losses

Despite its unnerving weekend facing Colby (4-8-2 NESCAC; #9) and Bowdoin (6-5-3 NESCAC; #5), the Hamilton College men’s hockey team (7-5-2 NESCAC; #3) remains near the top of the overall conference standings. The nail-biting action and losses in both games left both players and fans devastated and exasperated, but in reality, the results were not that detrimental to the team’s standings or mentality.  More ...
