In order to help international students adjust to a new environment and to broaden the experiences of non-international members of the Hamilton College community with cultural and diversity issues, the I.S.A. provides the campus and its surrounding communities with both educational and entertaining activities.

The first event of the academic year is the International Student Orientation. This takes place before the general orientation of the incoming first year class. It mainly consists of different types of workshops dealing with getting acquainted with the American educational system, the resources offered on campus and also includes opening bank accounts, acquisition of social security numbers,

and several trips to shopping malls etc...

Another main event on the I.S.A. agenda is our annual October break trip. Since international students are less likely to go home over the short breaks, the I.S.A. organizes all sorts of activities during the breaks, and especially during the October break. In recent years foreign students have travelled to : New York city, Toronto, and Montreal. These trips are on a low budget base and every year are a success.

Besides such activities the I.S.A. focuses its efforts on campus awareness by initiating Potluck dinners, and by sponsoring international movies, speakers, and bands. Intramural sports teams, international cookbooks, T-shirts, and valentine cards to name a few, are also part of what the I.S.A. does.
