Banff Mountain Film Festival

HOC presents the most full-on, free-falling, powder shredding, waterfall climbing, gravity defying, granite crushing, awe inspiring evening of mountain film and documentary action YOU WILL EVER SEE.

This is no amateur night, quick trip to Blockbuster, 'winter-X-games is rad-dude' collection of cinematographic drivel. These are the best films from the most prestigous international festival of mountain film of the year, like Cannes and Sundance, only for mountain life and culture. These films are taken on tour around the world, and a real Canadian from Banff (the one in Canada) is bringing them here to campus.

The world tour website is http://www.banffcentre.ca/mountainculture/tour/

Among the two and a half hours for films will be BASE jumping, mountain biking, very steep skiing, rock and ice climbing and extreme cross country skiing. This evening is more than an adrenaline packed The North Face fleece-fest, these films are well directed, thought out statements of the life and culture of the mountains and those who interact with them. These are probably the best films you'll watch all semester, and they're rarely shown on TV.
