Upon finding a version of the piece on Laymon’s personal blog Cold Drank, Gawker’s managing editor contacted him about republishing it as was, according to one of the site’s editors, it was “too good to pass up.”

On Tuesday night in the Red Pit, armed with only a chair, a floor mat, and a scarf, professional storyteller Edgecomb told the story of her project to collect traditional stories from the Kurdish people in a rural region of Turkey. Using a combination of first-person narration, character voices, traditional folk stories and Kurdish folk songs, Edgecomb painted a complex picture of cultural clashes and political problems.
More ...After taking numerous trips into the city of Utica, Evan Warnock ’14 became fascinated with the incredible subcultures Utica has to offer. As a Friends Without Borders volunteer, Warnock worked closely with young refugee students in the city. He got to know these young adults and knew that he wanted to document his encounters and share them with the Hamilton community.

More ...Compson Sound consists of Hamilton senior Ben Li. He started experimenting with music production the summer of 2011. His style of mash-ups primarily focuses on combining electronic dance tracks with Top 40 a capellas as well as using rarely featured samples such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye or Bon Jovi. He’s Dj-ed at numerous parties and Late Nite events, including opening for 3LAU last weekend. Although he only started eight months ago, Ben Li is on his way to becoming the next big thing in the electronic world.
More ...A few years ago, I attended a regular Sunday service with my family at our local Episcopal church. Everything in the church was the same as it always was—high-arched ceilings, moody recessed lighting, candles, and a general air of solemnity that struck even the sometime churchgoer with a pang of penitence. The service that day went on as usual until we arrived at the sermon and our rector stepped aside to invite a special guest: the pastor of a nearby Baptist church.

Capitalizing on the warm weather, the fresh attitude of new and returning students, as well as the enticing power of Shakespeare, the tradition continues to kick off the theatrical calendar. Entirely student run, the program has tackled such plays as The Merchant of Venice (2010) and King Lear (2011). This year, Untitled@Large produced The Twelfth Night, or What You Will, a comedy, which was last put on in 2003.
