Religious Observances
Here at the Hamilton College Hillel we take pride in celebrating the major Jewish Holidays.
Rosh Hashanah
We have services led by our visiting Rabbinical student, which include a great deal of student participation. We also serve two festive Kosher dinners in honor of the New Year.
Yom Kippur
We continue the High Holidays with services, a pre-fast dinner and a break-fast. Sukkot
Each year we build a Sukkah and celebrate inside.
Passover
We hold two student led Kosher for Passover Seders. We also make Kosher for Passover meals available by request for the duration of the holiday.
We also have services or celebrations for: Kristallnacht, Chanukah, Tu Bshvat, and Purim.
Social Events
In addition to religious programming we also plan a full range of social events. Recent activities have included: Bagel Brunches, Israeli Film Screenings, Speakers, Concerts, Chanukah Party and Activities with other Upstate NY Hillels.
Jewish Learning
Rabbi Dave offers informal study sessions on a range of Jewish topics. If there is a topic that you want to learn more about let Rabbi Dave know. Recent topics include: "Jews Booze and Tattoos: The truth about what Judaism Says."
Jewish Summer Jobs
We keep an active file of summer opportunities that are geared towards Jewish college students.
National Hillel Programs
Our campus is a part of Soref Initiative for Emerging Campuses which provides scholarships for Hamilton students to attend national Hillel events and conferences. Hamilton students have participated in Taglit:birthright-israel with Hillel and in "Rebuild and Repair" Hillel's Alternative Spring Break.
