The Root Farm

The Root Farm utilizes hippotherapy (the movement of horses) to work with children and adults with disabilities. The program at the Root Farm focuses upon therapeutic vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), to help persons with disabilities. Members of the Hamilton Equestrian Team volunteer at the Root Farm each semester to help with both the students and the horses. Our riders help to groom and exercise the horses used in the program and act as aids to the children who learn to vault and ride through this program. The Root Farm's program views equines as a source of physical andpsychological benefit for persons with disabilities.
