Community Service

Community service is an intricate part of Hamilton Delta Upsilon and an aspect that the brothers take pride in. For the past two years the Chapter has centered its attention on a relationship between the chapter and the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Mohawk Valley. Since the fall of 2003 brothers have volunteered their time in small groups on a weekly basis to tutor and play games with youth from the Utica, NY area. The fraternity has also made it a goal to do larger projects with the Club. Last year the children from the Club attended a football game to watch some of our brothers. We also participated in a day dedicated to assisting the Club with cleanup and painting in one of their branches. The brothers enjoy going to the Club feeling that it is a great chance to enlighten younger people as to some of the doors that can possibly be opened in their future.

In addition to our relationship with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club the fraternity participates in community service events sponsored by different organizations on campus. Currently the chapter is continuing its relationship with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club while working on more community projects that center around events on campus. The brothers value the participation of the chapter within the community, feeling that it is a good way for them to give something back to the local community and campus.
