A message from the President: Welcome to the Student Assembly's temporary website! We're currently in the process of completely overhauling our website. We hope to launch our new site in the fall. In the meantime, here's the most essential information. Below you'll find an outline of Student Assembly's structure. You can find a more detailed outline of each branch of the Assembly in our Constitution and Bylaws. If you have any questions, ideas, or an issue you'd like addressed, please feel free to e-mail sa@hamilton.edu, slombard@hamilton.edu, or rmessier@hamilton.edu. Yours, Stuart Lombardi '09 President of the Student Assembly The Student Assembly is the student government of Hamilton College. The Assembly consists of the Central Council, the Judicial Board, and the Honor Court. The Central Council, usually simply called the Students Assembly (or SA), is the representative voice of the student body. The Student Assembly President and Vice President chair and run the Student Assembly. The President and Vice President, elected by the student body at the end of the fall semester, each serve a one calendar-year term. Each class-year has 7 class officers: 5 Representatives, 1 Secretary/Treasurer, and 1 President, all of who serve on the Central Council. Sophomore, junior, and senior class officers are elected at the end of the spring term. Freshmen elect their officers in the fall. Unlike the President and Vice President, class officer's terms follow the academic calendar. The Chairs of the Judicial Board and Honor Court are voting members of the Central Council. The appointed cabinet members (Treasurer, Parliamentarian, Secretary, Director of Public Communication, and the Election Chair) and any committee chairs who are not otherwise elected members of the Central Council are all non-voting members of the Central Council. The Judicial Board hears and addresses allegations of student misconduct. 10 students (3 seniors, 3 juniors, 3 sophomores, and 1 non-voting chair), 3 faculty members, and 2 administrators or staff members serve on the Judicial Board. The Honor Court hears and addresses allegations of academic dishonesty and enforces the Honor Code. 11 students (3 seniors, 3 juniors, 3 sophomores, 1 freshman, and 1 non-voting chair) and 3 faculty members serve on the Honor Court. |
